“Aaron is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met,” says nominator James Hutt. “He has led dozens of social and environmental projects that have created a vibrant community and made our city and school more sustainable”. These are definitely some positive words about Aaron Beale--an individual who has made a conscious effort toward bettering society through the implementation of sustainable environmental solutions.
There are many things that Beale has done to help build a healthier earth for all of us. From starting and selling the first compostable container in Halifax, to creating a bicycle delivery service, to making and selling his very own organic peanut butter, Aaron is always thinking about how he can solve the problems that we are continually facing.
Aaron Beale has played a pivotal role as the Dalhousie Student Union Vice President (Academic and External), helping to found and manage the Metro Student Coalition and the Youthful City Campaign. Both of these initiatives brought out many student voters and became a leading project for sustainability issues. He is also one of the founders of the Loaded Ladle, a student run food co-op at Dalhousie University. The Ladle is a strong voice for food justice, sustainable eating, and social change, serving fresh, diverse, local (and healthy!) meals. Beale played a role in helping the Ladle become a consensus based co-op for students and community members, as well as a source of knowledge, education, and force in creating relationships with local food producers.
As a living example of good leadership and dedication, Aaron has truly made an effort to empower people to step up as leaders themselves. His helpful attitude, desire to witness positive changes, and unparallel attempt at actively designing solutions to the problems that plague us, makes him a young leader that should be acknowledged!
Although Beale has illuminated society with his dedicated acts toward bettering the environment, the best part of his efforts has been his ability to not only speak out for environmental issues, but for being a part of bringing these solutions to reality. Thanks for your hard work Aaron! We congratulate you for your efforts and for placing number 3 on our list of Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25!
