Northern Paradise

One of my close friends spent her summer volunteering on a Native Reserve up North.  She came back with memories of adventure and excitement.  But, the coolest experience that she shared with me was her stay at the Cree Village Ecolodge.

The Cree Village Ecolodge is one of the most environmentally advanced amenities in Canada.
It hosts a 20 room facility featuring 17 Deluxe Rooms, 1 Author's Suite, 1 Conference Suite, and 1 Jacuzzi Suite……….perfect for any stay on Moose Factory Island.

I feel as though it is especially efficient because it takes advantage of the simplest thing: natural positions.  The windows face a North-ward direction to maximize natural wind conditions, the walls are made of pure cedar, and the floors are blanketed with natural wool rugs. How much more cozy could you possibly get?

The natural wood furniture, birch wood blinds, and waterless/composting toilets give each room a rustic yet comfortable feel.

She says that the stay is just as magnificent as the view!  Because the Ecolodge is surrounded by the rugged sub-Arctic, there are several boat tours, bike paths, and nature trails that can be ventured.

I can just close my eyes and image the beauty of a place like this……….not only because I’m an environmentalist but because I think it’s such a humbling feeling to learn the values of a different culture.

We can gain a lot from other people’s experiences and interpretations.  After all, that’s one of the greatest parts about sharing this earth with each other.
