Have you ever wanted to go to the North or South Pole? Geoff Green, Founder and Executive Director of Students on Ice, lives the dream by taking youth across the Arctic Circle (and even to our least explored continent) to explore what these regions are truly all about.

Since 1999, Geoff has taken over 2,000 students, teachers, scientists, artists, musicians, and leaders from around the world on education expeditions to the Arctic and the Antarctic. Expeditions took place to give participants a heightened understanding and respect for our planets global ecosystem, and the inspiration to protect it.

Geoff's is passionate about bringing young people to the Arctic and Antarctic. These were places that his travels took him as an adult and have had a lasting impact. His believes that young people should experience these polar regions at a pivotal time in their life, as they will come home inspired, engaged, passionate, and with a new perspective on their life.

Our mission at Students on Ice is to provide youth with transformative learning opportunities at the ends of the Earth, and in doing so, to foster a new understanding and respect for the Planet,

The best part? The process works. Expeditions have become springboards for alumni, many of whom have continued to do go great work around the world. The Youth Arctic Coalition, a collaboration to address environmental, economic & social challenges in the Arctic, is a testament to the impact a hands-on experience can have on young minds.

By bringing youth and elders, experts and educators together from around the world and connecting them with the Arctic and the Antarctic, Students On Ice inspires a new generation of global citizens working together towards a sustainable future, The Youth Arctic Coalition is a wonderful example of how our alumni are leveraging their experiences in the Polar Regions, to learn more, and lead exciting new initiatives, ventures, careers and innovations!

"By bringing youth and elders, experts and educators together from around the world and connecting them with the Arctic and the Antarctic, Students On Ice inspires a new generation of global citizens working together towards a sustainable future," Geoff continues. "The Youth Arctic Coalition is a wonderful example of how our alumni are leveraging their experiences in the Polar Regions, to learn more, and lead exciting new initiatives, ventures, careers and innovations!"

Students On Ice shows how much experiencing place can have on people. It is an idea that can be transferred to any level, from a small community to a province or country. The organization provides youth with the opportunity to experience a place where climate change is having a tangible, visible effect. From melting ice sheets to a struggling animal populations, youth get to see, smell, hear, and touch a part of the world very few southerners experience. For Students On Ice  participants and alumni, it is an impactful and unforgettable experience.
