Our friends at the Hamilton Sustainability Professionals Network (HSPN) are hosting an exciting event on April 22nd.  Join the HSPN and other passionate sustainability minded individuals at Mohawk College for an opportunity to network and explore Mohawk College’s H-Wing (135 Fennell Ave W. in Hamilton).  The evening has many exciting activities to participate in, including an interactive exhibit called the Hamilton Transportation Showcase. This activity allows participants to comment on and visualize the future of the transportation system in Hamilton. You can also check out the exciting developments of the Public Bikeshare System, which will be showcased as well. In addition, attendees will entered in a raffle for yearly bikeshare system memberships!

Exploring Mohawk College’s H-Wing is certainly something you will want to do at the event. With LEED Certification, the building is exemplar of outstanding green planning in the city. As a major educational institution in Hamilton, Mohawk College has taken initiative to become a leader in sustainability. From large scale sustainability initiatives to interesting green details, there is much to learn about the design of H-Wing. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the living!

The HSPN has been instrumental in connecting sustainability advocates and professionals in Hamilton. Meeting individuals who are helping Hamilton transition to a more sustainable city is incredible. As a young environmentalist in Hamilton, hearing the stories of change and practical ways I can get involved has been invaluable. Attending the first HSPN event opened my eyes to a niche in Hamilton that has the power to transform our city.

The event will run from 4:30 to 8:00pm and it is free to attend. There will also be a cash bar at the Scotia Bank Café. To stay with the theme of sustainability, the HSPN and The Starfish urge you to consider walking, cycling, or taking transit to the event. We are looking forward to meeting more sustainability professionals and hearing about the progress in Hamilton!

We can make a tangible difference in Hamilton and have the support systems to do so. Come out on April 22nd and share your sustainability ideas! We hope to see you there! You can find more information about the event and how to reserve tickets here.
