Loose Ends: Part Two

Peace Lily

She whispers tenderly,

to my glossy Peace Lily leaves,

using her jade cup

to tip a stream of cool,

clear water into the smooth,

grey ceramic pot.

In Natalie Haynes’ “A Thousand Ships”, the greek mythological character of Cassandra whispers her prophecies after she’s cursed, a clear sign that she’s lost her mind. I wondered how this vignette might be told from the perspective of a plant.
