Young voices with new ideas

Our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is made up of passionate students from grades 6 -11 who meet each month to help shape the future of The Starfish Canada by piloting and providing feedback on our programs, as well as identifying and directing projects of their own.


Special Youth Advisory Board Projects

This year, the YAB focused on developing and producing the first edition of the Young Environmentalist’s Field Guide. This project represents their commitment to strengthening the dialogue on environmental issues and concerns while celebrating the unique natural spaces that exist across the country. Through their creativity, dedication, and invaluable participation, the YAB inspires us to continue learning as an organization as we co-create programs that resonate with and amplify the voice of young people.

Youth Advisory Board Members

  • Jaime Terada

    Jaime is a high school student who is always looking for ways to invoke change in herself and the community. She hopes that her work can help nourish environmental awareness in Canadian youth.

  • Bodhana Sivagurunathan

    Bodhana Sivagurunathan is a junior at Centennial Collegiate & Vocational Institute in Guelph, ON. She is a girl on a mission; to live life to the fullest. Her life revolves around her family, nature, DECA, school, and basketball and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She aspires to start-up her own green business, while pursuing a career in the medical sciences.

  • Rathushan Selvakumar

    Rathushan Selvakumar is in grade 8 at Saint Anthony of Padua School. He is excited to be a part of Starfish Canada’s Youth Advisory Board and to bring his point of view into environmental issues. In his spare time, he enjoys programming and reading books.

  • Maddox Ganesh

    My name is Maddox Ganesh, and I have an interest in the environment. I firmly believe we should leave the world in a better condition than how we found it. Which is why I joined the starfish as with this program I have the ability to create a better environment.

  • Eric Wang

    Eric Wang is a student currently in grade 8. He cares about the environment and seeks to make it a better place. In his free time he enjoys family time and much more.
